Social Learning
For social learning I chose LinkIn and Facebook to pose my question.
As instructional design continues to evolve with advancements in technology and changed learner needs what recent strategies, tools, or approaches have you integrated into your practice, and how have they impacted learner engagement or outcomes?
I chose Facebook because I have teacher friends that are easy to reach over the summer months on that platform. This site worked well and most teachers were prompt to answer. They are sympathetic to the pursuit of a master's and the requirements.
In summary the teachers strategies include shorter lectures and more simulation of tasks. The usage of any tech can pull the students in as well. The in person training and actual hands on the equipment was noted with all.
LinkedIn is with my industry partners and netted zero results.
My findings are that even though Facebook is a social site, it can get you the results you are looking for.
This week you will reflect on Enhancing Engagement with Social Learning. Focus on social media, online communities, and collaborative problem-solving.
1) Choose two (2) communities from the wide spectrum of instructional design, such as online forums, professional organizations, social media groups, or academic networks.
- td.org, linkedin.com, onlinelearningconsortium.org, instructionaldesigncentral.com, alabamaidnetwork.org, etc.
- Ensure that the selected communities have active engagement and provide valuable insights and resources related to instructional design.
2) Research a topic or Post a thought-provoking question to each community:
- Formulate a question that encourages members to reflect on their practices, share insights, or discuss emerging trends within the field of instructional design.
- Post the question on the respective platforms or mediums of each community and monitor the responses over a specified period.
- Identify commonalities, differences, and unique perspectives between the two communities.
- Discuss how the findings align with the principles, theories, and methodologies covered in the course
3) Record your findings in your Blog.
