Techniques for Promoting Engagement in Instructional Design:

Incorporate group activities: Group learning promotes peer interaction and group understanding.

Understand learners interest: analyze the student' interest and needs that the course is targeting. 

Use games: Incorporate games and interactive lessons


Challenges to Collaborative Learning:

Unequal participation:Dominate personalities may block the equal participation of all participates.

Lack of communication: Misunderstanding or language barriers cause difficulties in learning.


How can leaderboards, badges, and rewards promote collaborative learning:

Promotes competition: The leaderboard gives real time facts to who is ahead.

Promotes shared achievement :Rewards the team and creates a shared achievement.

Personal experience with badges:

MSSC (Manufacturing Safety Skills Council) LMS - Badges that are transferrable to LinkedIn.

ACE (Alabama Career Essentials) Badges and certificates for each level achieved that allow the student to feel accomplished with each level passed.
