M10:Reinforcement Activity

 SWOT

This week we are conducting a SWOT analysis. I will be looking at the course design for Modern Manufacturing Center of Excellence curriculum  change.

Strengths -         New up to date industry involved curriculum

                            Three courses instead of four 

                            Aligned with Alabama Community College System

Weaknesses -     Can not take courses out of order now

                            The teachers are learning curriculum at the last minute - not available yet

                            Group is wanting to take tools that the teachers obtained from the labs

Opportunities - New knowledge for the teachers

                            Industry buy in

                            New tools for progress

Threats:             The curriculum not being ready at the start of school

                            Weak performance and loss of students


It will be interesting to see how this curriculum change progresses.

Constructivism is a learning theory that focuses on the creative experience and what we learn and reflect on from that experience through analysis and reflection. M3 Reinforcement Activity

Psychology of gaming: Gaming and gaming design can create engaging experiences and let the individual feel rewarded. Gaming creates connections as well as escapism. Games can trigger dopamine, which makes the brain feel pleasure. Serotonin can be released during gaming as well. Serotonin can regulate the mind and create a feeling of happiness. Games really bring people together. I can introduce a game in class. We will play table tennis. The challenge is the players have to make their own paddle. The students will work together designing. During game time all students from all groups will be pulled in to play, all sense of social clicks are gone. It is the sense of competition that draws the students together, that seems to bleed over to the class time. The social clicks are forgotten. Points really give the students a reward.
