M10:Reinforcement Activity

SWOT This week we are conducting a SWOT analysis. I will be looking at the course design for Modern Manufacturing Center of Excellence curriculum  change. Strengths -         New up to date industry involved curriculum                                 Three courses instead of four                                  Aligned with Alabama Community College System Weaknesses -     Can not take courses out of order now                                  The teachers are learning curriculum at the last minute - not available yet                                  Group is wantin...

Social Learning For social learning I chose LinkIn and Facebook to pose my question. As instructional design continues to evolve with advancements in technology and changed learner needs what recent strategies, tools, or approaches have you integrated into your practice, and how have they impacted learner engagement or outcomes? I chose Facebook because I have teacher friends that are easy to reach over the summer months on that platform. This site worked well and most teachers were prompt to answer. They are sympathetic to the pursuit of a master's and the requirements. In summary the teachers strategies include shorter lectures and more simulation of tasks. The usage of any tech can pull the students in as well. The in person training and actual hands on the equipment was noted with all.  LinkedIn is with my industry partners and netted zero results. My findings are that even though Facebook is a social site, it can get you the results you are looking for. This week you wil...

Exploring AI Photomath - I Explored Photomath when my daughter took PreCal. This is a very useful tool in understanding the steps to a problem and double checking your answers. The downside is not understanding the steps and just using the answer, thus not learning anything. ChatPDF - would be a great tool for teachers. This tool would provide answers to worksheets obtained online. In the hands of students this would be a fast way for them to just get the answers and not learn. Teach.anything.com - This is a fast way for the teacher or student to get a crash course in learnng a subject. A person just enters a topic and the subject is overviewed. Canva - A great tool to design or use templates to create lessons, flyers, graphic organizers. I use this to create fast certificates. Example of an AI collaborative project -  This lesson provides collaboration and gamification on identifying tools with the help of ChatGPT.  Lesson Title: Tool Masters: A Game-Based Learning E...

VR and Augmented Reality VR training is special in the fact that you can interact and learn at the same time. The environment is safe and collaborative. My classroom is equipped with five VR headsets and one VR forklift trainer. These give the students a safe place to simulate tool usage without getting hurt. On average, I have 30 students a class. The VR headset gives immediate feedback to the student, whereas I may have missed the forks being high on the student on a real forklift.  The headsets are perfect for students that are apprehensive to try a real tool or drive. The headsets offer volume control as well, if the student is sensitive to sound. The real forklift has a 16 year old age limit. The VR headsets do not have this limit. Overlays and QR Codes Overlays in VR/AR can enhance the experience by bringing in the existing objects in the classroom into the digital world. QR codes can bring new objects into the digital world or bring the user into the digital interface...
